About Karen Laws
Karen has over 30 years experience educating owners and their dogs. She improves dog behaviour and solves problems that to others, seem impossible to fix.
Karen's first memory of her fascination with dogs and their instinctive abilities began when she accompanied her father and his beagles on Saturday afternoon rabbit hunting trips. For her eleventh birthday Karen received a dog of her own – a Labrador retriever (Blythe's Duff) ... and so began her life long devotion to dogs and dog training.
Karen began training retrievers for competitive retriever field trials in the mid-1980's. She has successfully trained numerous Labrador retrievers to the esteemed title of field trial champion. Karen's dogs have always been trained to be good citizens.
Karen is skilled at reading dog behaviour and solving dog problems through the use and application of a variety of dog training tools and training methods. She is a professional wildlife biologist and certified elementary school teacher – a perfect combination for success in helping people improve their dog's behaviour for a wonderful lifestyle together.
Karen is Ontario's best remote collar trainer. She has effectively used a remote training collar in a fun and fair way for nearly three decades to improve dog behaviour and to enhance dog performance.
Her commitment to bring the joy of dog companionship to senior citizens in long term care facilities is demonstrated in her volunteer work with the East Central Therapy Dog program.
Karen practices her belief in continuing education by studying with other accomplished canine professionals as well as attending workshops, seminars and other professional dog training academies.
